I See London...Part Three

I knew that if we were going to be in London on a weekend, then I wanted to do my best and try to go to Hillsong Church.  I've been singing their worship songs since I was in 7th grade, and they have some powerful lyrics.  Church didn't start until 11 am, so we had some time to kill before then.  We decided to walk around Hyde Park since it was literally down the street from our hotel.

This is the Italian Gardens.

Kensington Palace is in the distance.
The flowers were so beautiful.

It was a beautiful day to be in the park, and there were lots of people there...walking, exercising, just basking in the sun.  I think I could have stayed a lot longer.

But we caught the tube and headed over towards Hillsong Church.  I was literally so excited to be there and experience it. There were a lot of people there, and the church is actually inside the Dominion Theater, where they do host Broadway shows.  It is a beautiful theater, and we found seats up in the balcony.

Our view when we popped up from the Tube.

There was definitely a more "concert-y" feel to their worship time with all the lights and fog and theatrics, but the music was good!

This was a snippet of a song that I had heard right before we went to Hillsong but is now on the radio.

The actual message lacked Biblical teaching.  I was definitely disappointed because it was more of a motivational talk than anything. But we did get to experience Hillsong Church, and I'm glad we got the opportunity.

After church, we hopped on the tube and headed back towards the Tower of London.  Another aspect of our London Pass was that we were able to take a river cruise out to Greenwich.  Being the nerd that I am, I just had to go stand on the Prime Meridian.

We went under Tower Bridge.

As we were walking toward the Royal Observatory, we passed the Cutty Sark.

We walked past the cutest town and headed through a park, up a big hill to the Royal Observatory.

The town of Greenwich.

I was astounded at how many people were just there to sit on the grass.

You can see the Queen's House on the lawn, and in the far distance, the city of London. If you look closely, the round building with the yellow poles sticking out of it is where the London 2012 Olympics were held.

People were just sitting on the lawn enjoying the day.

We took the Tube back into the city and headed toward the Shard.  I didn't really know what this building was except that it was going to have great views. We went right as the sun was going down, so some of the pictures didn't turn out great, but I did love having a bird's eye view of the city. Oh, and the sun sets later than it does here.  That was awesome!

The Tower Bridge, Tower of London (to the left of the bridge), and the HMS Belfast

Looking directly at the London Bridge. It's probably not like you imagined, huh?

St. Paul's Cathedral is popping up in the middle of this picture.

Afterward, we called it a night, since the next day we needed to be up early to catch our train to Paris.
