Hawaii: Part 5

So I got really busy and didn't blog the rest of our Hawaii trip.
Here I am again...

Did you miss the first posts?
Here they are:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

On Tuesday morning, Tyler and I got up to go Scuba Diving.  I really wish we would have had pictures from it, because it was an amazing experience.  I had never seen sea turtles that huge in my life, and to get to "swim" with them was so neat!

We hadn't been Scuba Diving since our honeymoon, so I was a little rusty.  We did a two-tank dive meaning, we got to dive twice.  Breathing through a regulator is SO different that just breathing.  I had a mini-panic attack when I was trying to descend the first time, but I got my breathing under control and had a fun time.

When we got finished with the first dive, we headed back to the boat.  The waves were SO choppy, and even just floating in the water made me sick.  I got back on the boat, water and snacks were passed around, but I couldn't even make it back to my seat.  I laid on the floor of the boat with my head down.  I was SO sick.  I've never been that sick in my life.  It was rough!  We went back to the dock for a few minutes of rest since I wasn't feeling too well.  It was much better to walk on land. :)

Our second dive went better, and I was able to stay under for a lot longer since I wasn't using all of my oxygen.  I love scuba diving, so I hope we'll be able to do it again soon!

My parents had gone to the beach nearby, so we stopped to say hi to them.  We were waiting for our Whale Watching adventure to start.  It was a nice day for the beach!

The Whale Watching was a complete bust.  It ended up being the most expensive boat ride we've ever taken.

That's about the extent of what we saw.  Seriously...such a waste of money.  We were disappointed.

On the way back to the house that night, we did stop for tacos.  They were delicious!!

The one thing I didn't like was that they put cabbage on everything.  I'm not a cabbage fan.  I'd rather have lettuce.  But they were yummy and filling!

Well, come back tomorrow and I'll have Wednesday's pictures up! :)

Hawaii--Part Four

Are you sick of my trip pictures yet?
I still have a week's worth left...haha!!

Sunday night we flew over to Kauai.
It was only about a half hour flight, so we were thankful since it was 10:30 when we got there!
We had to drive clear to the north side of the island, which took FOREVER at 1:00 am.
The rental car place took FOR.EV.ER.
Then we stopped to buy some food at the store...at midnight.
We got there and crashed.

We rented a treehouse for the week.
It was AWESOME!!!!!!

The view off our balcony in our room.

We loved having a king size bed...and it was SO comfy!!

On Monday, my parents, Tyler and I all went sightseeing.  We were really close to the Kalalau Trail (which was BEAUTIFUL), so we headed in that direction.

We got to see a Monk Seal.  They are endangered, so they put signs up and you're not allowed to go near them.  He was so cute!!

We started up the Kalalau Trail, but it was wet and steep.  It's an 11 mile (?) trail that can take up to 8 hours to hike.  We only went up a quarter of a mile to see the lookout area.

Shortly after, we headed back towards the south side of the island.

Gas is expensive there.

I made Tyler take this picture with me at our lunch stop.
We stopped at Banana Joe's Fruit stand for dessert!

Their avocados were HUGE!!!

I was super excited to find a treat that had no added sugar or dairy in it.  It was pure pineapple made into a frozen treat!
We stopped to see a lighthouse....pretty!
Dad had also spotted whales...so we're glad he had his binoculars!!

We made our way over to see the Spouting Horn, which is a blowhole and VERY cool.

We stopped to eat on the way back to the treehouse.
It was a super cute town!!

Alrighty...that sums up our Monday.
Come back tomorrow for Part 5!

Hawaii--Part Three

On Sunday, we went to church with the Islanders.
Oh my goodness...that was FUN!

They were SO welcoming, and of course, they all knew we were visitors.
When we told them we were only visiting for a week, they all told us that was WAY too short of a time.
It was such a neat experience though.
The church had sliding glass doors on one side, which were all open.
They also had the ceiling fans going, so it felt good in there.
After the service, they all fellowshiped together {which also included food}.
We had the opportunity to chat with lots of the church members!

Right after church, we headed to Diamond Head.
I was super excited about hiking the mountain.
I even packed my heart rate monitor because I wanted to see how good of a workout I got, rather than just feeling it.

The climb was tough, but we made it!!

We look dead...I don't remember if this was on the way up or down.

The views were spectacular!!

I just love the panoramic function on my iPhone.

There was a pirate ship!  Evidently they do dinner cruises.

You could think my Dad was a nerd for bringing his binoculars, but he was GENIUS!!

Yep!  It was a GREAT workout!!
That afternoon, my parents and their friends went exploring the other side of the island, while Tyler and I drove to the North Shore.

Of course we had to stop at a food truck.  I tried Mahi Mahi for the first time! And it wasn't the last, either!
We stopped several times...one of those being at Turtle Bay Beach.  Gorgeous!

And again at another beach...

Then drove by right as they closed...besides, we don't like Dole Whip.  Didn't hurt our feelings!

We did stop for supper at this place...uh...delicious!!

Notes about Oahu:  it was not my favorite island.  There were a LOT of people there.  Waikiki reminded me a bit of Las Vegas...and remember my attitude about it? :)  Next time I think I would skip Oahu.

Sunday night we flew over to Kauai.

So come back tomorrow for pictures from my favorite island.
