Easy-Peasy Chicken Dumplings

Hey guys!  While I'm away in Las Vegas, I asked my dear friend, Abbi to share a recipe with us!  I'm so excited that she is sharing her heart as well as her talent.  I met her through Instagram and we hit off almost right away.  We're not only connected through IG, but our love for Christ.  Here she is!

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

Hey it's Abbi, visiting poster from Seasons of a Homemaker! I am blessed to be doing this guest post for Beth today!! Truly Beth has been there in fellowship with me at some very needy times but also lifted me up in prayer when I needed it the most. I'm truly thankful for Beth and the blessing that she is!

A lot of days we hear or struggle with the difficulties and challenges that technology bring to us, and we forget to count the blessings. Sending pictures to loved ones, finding millions of recipes on pinterest, connecting with old friends and my favorite fellowship with like-minded women who I normally wouldn't be able to. Through facebook and instagram and pinterest and blogs I'm able to connect and fellowship with women who enjoy God's calling as a woman, who love to cook and who see the world in a similar way that I do! Don't get me wrong sometimes technology can cause a lot of problems, like young people on social media sites, and bad people now finding our young children on these sites. I pray for this daily because I know the pitfalls, so I ask that at some point you lift up all of this technology and pray for the protection of young people using technology.

I come to you posting with a wonderful recipe, it's called Easy-Peasy Chicken Dumplings! It is truly delicious and outside of the biscuits I had EVERYTHING already in my cupboards!

Easy-Peasy Chicken Dumplings
Ingredients:
-2 boneless skinless chicken breasts (clearly only two of us)
-1 can cream of chicken (originally called for two, but I don't like all the additional cream)
-3 bullion cubes
-3 cups of water (for chicken broth)
-2 large potatoes, cubed
-2 handfuls of baby carrots (or cut up large carrot)
-4 refrigerated biscuits, torn up
-dash of garlic powder, rosemary, parsley, and oregano (flavor to liking)
Directions:
1. Place chicken (on bottom), cream of chicken, 3 cups of chicken broth, potatoes, carrots in crockpot. Making sure all ingredients are covered for the most part.
2. Cook on low 6-8 hours or high 3-4 hours
3. 45 minutes before serving tear up biscuits & continue cooking

My bowl (sans chicken)

After making this recipe which is STILL feeding us (freezer!) I realized it's so filling and so easy to multiply and it goes a long way. I made this recipe for my husband and I only, so that's why it's only two chicken breasts and so forth. After throwing in the biscuits you can either save them for later by putting them in a ziplock or you can bake them up and have some biscuits with it! Truly the ingredients are relatively inexpensive and most (like I said) were sitting in my cupboard already!

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hebrews 4: 12

Thank you so much for sharing, Abbi!  I have enjoyed getting to know you and your heart.  You have a love for the Lord and for your husband that is unmistakable.

Friends, head over to her blog and say hi to her!  She's such a blessing!

The Christmas Box

Today, I'm taking a little break from "10 Commandments Tuesday."  I apologize if you're disappointed, but I'm going to be honest with you.  I haven't read the whole chapter for this week.  :/  I want to be able to share with you what I've been learning, and I can't quite do that yet.  It seems like this week has been really busy, and I haven't devoted much time to reading.  I'm sorry.

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

But don't be too sad.  I have something really exciting to share with you!
I've been reading Joy's blog for a couple of months now.  Her family is in the middle of adopting their precious girl.
I just love her heart...because in the middle of all this...trying to find the financial resources so they will be able to adopt Pie, she is wanting to give to others.
She "gets" the true meaning of Christmas.

Joy posted this morning about giving to others this Christmas season.
Now, I know that a lot of you are probably thinking, "It's not even Thanksgiving yet."
You're right, but you can be thinking of how you can give back this season.

Joy posted this a year ago, and I encourage you to read it to understand what I'm asking of you.

Each of you know someone.
Someone who is struggling financially.
Someone who lost a job.
Someone who is home bound and can't get out.
Someone who is going through a rough time.
Someone who is a single parent.
Someone who is adopting a child.
Someone who is just needing some encouragement.
Pick that person out.

Then, while you're grocery shopping, add items to your cart that the person or family you have in mind might need.  You don't have to do it all in one trip.
Start collecting it now.  A little at a time.
It could be toilet paper, napkins, plates, groceries, toys, clothes, diapers, laundry detergent...anything.
Do you know someone traveling back and forth to the hospital to get cancer treatments?  Add a gas card or restaurant gift card.
Put some necessities in there, but also add some fun stuff. :)

When you get all of your items gathered, put it in a box.
Make it pretty!
Add a card or note about why you're doing this.
Jesus is the reason, people!
He's the reason we celebrate this season!!
It is through Him that we may have life!
Don't sign the note or card.
But take it to that neighbor.
That co-worker.
That minister.
That single parent.
The family who is having financial difficulties.

When you take it to them...be sneaky.
Take it to them when they won't be home.
Or late at night when they would be in bed.
Or early in the morning before they leave for work.
But don't get caught!

You may ask, "What do I get out of this?"
Well, friends, you get the joy from it.
You get to know that you shared what God is all about.
And you might have answered a prayer of theirs.
They might not have had money for toilet paper.
Yet, you stuck some in the box to take to them.

I know you can find the way to help someone out this season.
Even if you have to give up your morning coffee or afternoon Sonic happy hour drink.

Joy says in her blog post today, "Even I can afford to share what I have, what I can't afford is to not share what I have."

Friends, let's bring Christ to our neighbors this year.
If you're in, please share this idea with your friends!
On your facebook, your blog, your twitter, your instagram.
Let's do this.
Let's make a difference.
Together.

Oh Monday...

Monday.
Again.
I was going to have a hard time getting out of bed this morning
...but then I remembered.
I only have to go to work 2 days this week.

Hallelujah!!
That's right, ladies and gents.
Tyler and I are headed to Vegas on Wednesday morning.
Who's excited??
WE ARE!!!!

Have you ever been there?
Do you have any tips for first-timers?
What to see? What to do? What not to do or see?
I will be a little MIA this week...but no worries.
I have a special guest for you on Friday. :)

How was your weekend?
Was it busy or did you get to relax?

Here's just a part of what we did:

Friday evening, we had our supper delivered to us!
LOVED that...growing up, we lived too far out for delivery to even think about coming our way.
I updated my shop.  Use code 'freeship' for free shipping!
We went car shopping {or maybe car "looking"}.
I got to sew for a bit.
We went to the shooting range yesterday.  We tried out Tyler's new gun.
I colored my hair.  And found out that my hair is going straight. Again
Oh, and I got some Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate mix.
Go get some...you won't be disappointed!  {Target!}
Isn't that a beautiful sunset?  I saw it last night in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
God is good. :)

I hope that you'll have a wonderful week!!
If you have any Vegas tips for us, please let us know!
I'm looking forward to spending quality time with my hubby this week. :)

OH!!! She Reads Truth is starting a new reading plan today.
Will you join in?

November Rambles

Happy November!
Guess what that means?
It's my birthday month!!
...and my husband's, and my brother's, and my dad's.

We're gonna be celebrating all month long!
I've got some great things planned...
including my first giveaway!
I hope y'all are as excited as I am!!
Stay tuned!! :)

I have a lot to cover in this post...
and it will probably be kinda random.
So I apologize ahead of time!

First thing's first
...a recap of how I did with October's goals.
I love being able to look back to see what I have accomplished and to look forward and anticipate what is to come.

Relationship Goals:
  • Write 4 different people cards or letters.  I only wrote 2. :(
  • Write Tyler a note.  I've been awful at writing, but I did text him several times (and not just superficial texts...but meaningful ones).
  • Invest in my new friendships.  Woo hoo!  I've gotten to know several people in our Life Group better!

Homemaking Goals:
  • Meal plan for a couple weeks at a time. (I want to get back in this habit.) For the most part, this happened.  I need to catch up this week.
  • Sell/give away clothes and other things we don't need.  They're all in a pile just waiting to be given away.
  • Make one new recipe a week.  I was doing awesome...then I fell off the bandwagon.

Personal Goals:
  • Keep eating healthy.  For the most part, I've done really well.  The last couple of days have been rough, though.
  • Start on my birthday list.  I'm halfway done with it!!  I'll be sharing it on my birthday!
  • Take some time for myself...don't get too busy.  I did take time for myself...but October was a super busy month!

Craft Goals:
  • Work on Fall/Christmas items for the shop.  Yay!  Christmas items are debuting today!
  • Start on a Christmas list for family/friends.  I have a list started, but not completed.
  • Finish Fall napkins so we can use them at Thanksgiving!!  I have 2 left...and 21 days left to finish them in!!

So I got half of them completed.  That's a 50% which would be a failing grade.  Good thing life doesn't give me grades. :)  Here are this month's goals:

Relationship Goals:
  • Write 4 people cards or letters.
  • Spend some quality time with my husband.
Homemaking Goals:
  • Clean the apartment before we leave on our trip so that we can come home to a clean house!
  • Cook a successful Thanksgiving lunch.
Personal Goals:
  • Finish my birthday list and share it with you.
  • Have a party...even if it's just Tyler and I celebrating together!
I know this month is busy.  I'm only giving myself 6 goals...but I know that it will be a wonderful month!  :)

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

Today, I'm debuting Christmas items in my shop!
I am excited for this season, and I LOVE giving gifts.
Hope you can find something you just love!

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

I want to share this video with you. I've been a fan of Hillsong United since about 7th grade. I finally got to go to a concert of theirs last November, and I'm absolutely loving their songs from their newest album. We've sang this song at church a couple of times, and being completely honest with you, this is my prayer.

"Like a rushing wind,
Jesus breathe within.
Lord have Your way
Lord have Your way in me.
Like a mighty storm,
Stir within my soul.
Lord have Your way
Lord have Your way in me."

I pray that it will be your prayer, too.

Do you have plans for this month?
What are they?
